Recognising the critical need for digital proficiency in today's economy, the º£½ÇÉçÇø of Sheffield and Siemens have significantly expanded their partnership with the creation of the Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ). Located in the vibrant Engineering Heartspace of the iconic Sir Frederick Mappin Building, the DIZ is designed to accelerate digitalisation, cultivate advanced digital skills, and foster a collaborative environment for technology and knowledge exchange.

The DIZ provides students with invaluable practical experience. This state-of-the-art facility, a joint investment by the º£½ÇÉçÇø and Siemens, is also a hub for local businesses and collaborative partnerships. It features:

- High-performance student workstations equipped with advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Platforms for exploring Edge Computing and Digital Simulation technologies.
- A ground-breaking Digital Twin of the Diamond Pilot Plant, a unique resource within the UK university sector.
