Jiarui joined the School in September 2023 as a Research Associate. He is responsible for multiple research projects, focusing on the youth labour market and household finance in the UK.
Jiarui completed his PhD at Cardiff º£½ÇÉçÇø (2023), on the topic of return to education and over-education wage penalty in the Chinese labour market. Prior to his current job, Jiarui worked as a Teaching Assistant at Cardiff Business School and a Research Assistant at the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD).

Jiarui is interested in Education Economics, over-education issue and the return of over-education in the labour market, especially in the context of China. Other research interests include gender and ethnicity inequality and job satisfaction.
